The artwork (aside from the one in the gold frames) are from TSR (pay items I think). The guitar is from Sims3 Store. Shelves are also from TSR.

The Avery Legacy

James Avery had just inherited his Mother’s country home in East Norsington. A run down shack that once upon a time had been the loveliest house in town. But after the death of his Father 10 years ago and his Mother’s ailing health, the house fell into disrepair and the elder Mrs. Avery was much too feeble in her old age to keep up with it.

So, on a rather unremarkable October day, James Avery and his wife, Lily, moved into his old house, the one and only inheritance his family had left for him.

"I'm sorry it's not everything you wished."
"Don't be sorry. It's a home, and it's ours, and we'll make it our home," Lily said softly.
"But it's falling apart!" James cried. "It will probably fall completely into ruin before the end of the year."

"Well, we've both got our hands, our health, and if I remember, you're quite the handyman... I think we'll be ok. Maybe in the Spring I'll start a garden and we can plant fresh flowers... this is an adventure!" Lily exclaimed. James nodded lightly in agreement. His wife was right, at least they had a home and it didn't cost anything (upfront anyway), and he was a handyman...

The next morning, James woke up bright and early to tackle some of the brambles overtaking the yard.

Worn down furniture was littered behind unkempt shrubbery. He kept a look of determination on his face, but part of him wondered if they would ever restore the house to its once formal glory.

"Well someone is hungry!" Lily laughed clearing off James first plate. He had been working in the yard all morning and afternoon and had worked up a large appetite.

Lily knew everything would work out for them. There was just something about this house... it seemed to hold a promise of good things to come.

Finally, a new recolor!

Well since Adele was busy working away in her little garden yesterday, I decided to make her some lovely garden sign posts from vintage seed packets.

The download file contains both of these sets... (only the signs are included, the other items are there just for decoration) I didn't exactly make the seed packets match what you can grow in the Sims (mostly because I have never gotten past growing tomatoes...) but I hope you enjoy anyway!

Conservatory Dining

Initially I had another dining room for Adele, but I decided to change up the look of her house to something I like a bit more. Before it was just a bit too posh and Adele isn't that posh of a person, she loves to garden and loves collecting tea cups and vintage dishes, so I really wanted this to show through.

Her dining room before had pretty dishes hung on the wall and bright floral wallpaper, which was sort of a modern take of her favorite things. But well, I like this version better. :)

This is her old dining room (another part of the house)

As you can see, the old dining room is much different than the new one... I think I will turn the old dining room into a large foyer with a little breakfast nook since it is directly attached to the kitchen.

Bloomwood Living

I am very "recolor happy" lately, if you can't tell. My current (and complete) project is a set called "Bloomwood Living" inspired by one of my favorite book characters "Becky Bloomwood" from the Confessions of a Shopaholic series.

These recolors are vibrant and colorful with a bit of a vintage feel but still young and trendy (atleast in my opinion). The colors and patterns I feel really represent Becky really well and you can mix and match!

I love vintage fabrics which inspired these quick recolors of Jope's Living Room 6 Chair. The poster print is also a recolor by me done quite awhile ago when I was first learning how to recolor and discovered paintings/posters were the easiest to recolor in game.

I was so encouraged by everyone's kind comments that I am working on a new set to recolor. I haven't decided between a dining room or another bedroom. There was this picture I saw in a magazine once of a shabby chic dining room that I just adore so very much and I wanted to recreate it, but in my own way. Maybe I'll work on this recolor today.

Currently I'm working on some new bedding and pillow recolors (you can never have enough bedding and pillows!) and also some taleclothes as I don't think there are nearly enough of them. Stay tuned!

Lawn Gnome Bedroom

Sorry for the lack of updates, I didn't get a chance to upload anymore photos of the Hanz House, but the winners were announced and I came in SECOND place! WOO-HOO!

Anyhow, I'll upload Hanz photos later on. But for now I wanted to share my very first recolors ever! I was quite excited these didn't turn out so bad. I don't know how to preview recolors other than ingame (have to ask Dad for the proper program to use) so for the first go, I didn't think these were too bad.

My inspirations were the two little paintings off to the side of the bed. I will have this set available for download somewhere soon, I'm not sure how to really share creations yet.

Christmas Challenge: Round 1 (+Bonus)

*** Well it took me forever to do these two rooms because I didn't play Sims too much this week. But here are moe photos of the Hanz House! We are only allowed to submit 5 photos per round, but I like to take a lot of pictures. ^_^

{ Kitchen }

"It smells wonderful in here!" Geoff exclaims. "I should hope so!" Abigail replies, she had been baking all day in preparation for Agatha's visit.

The kitchen in their new home was large and roomy but still felt very cozy and lived in. Abigail and Geoff loved all the exposed brick in the kitchen and the wooden beams along the ceiling. Abigail was certain the kitchen would please Agatha as she knew Agatha was quite a cook.

Her kitchen table was a mess of baking utensils and batter...
but no time to fuss about it now, the oven just beeped and her famous chocolate chip cookies are ready! (Her grandmother's recipe, but we can't tell you the secret ingredient!)

Abigail whips up another Holiday recipe (Christmas bread pudding!) as another batch of cookies goes into the oven. She loves baking, maybe Agatha would share some family recipes with her, after all she had heard so much about her wonderful cooking from Geoff.

Third batch of cookies goes into the oven. "Oh goodness, my back is starting to hurt..."

Abigail looks into the empty living room and dining room... only 3 more days until Agatha's arrival and there was so much more left to do...

{ Bathroom }

After a long day in the kitchen, Abigail retires to her favorite room in the house, her bathroom.

Well, it was hers for now. It really is the guest bathroom (which means Agatha would be using it during her visit). Geoff was a little aprehensive about the very feminine wallpaper in the bathroom and allowed Abigail to do as she pleased with this bathroom. Their master bathroom they would have to compromise a bit...

Not the most grand of bathrooms, but the heavy damask curtain and a soft Persian rug (those old tile floors are cold in the mornings!) give a warm feel to this small room.
The bathroom did not have much counter space (hence the dresser being put in here) but Abigail loved how open it made the tiny bathroom feel without any large counters.

Luckily there is a built in cabinet... that's quite convenient!

A separate toilet area so one could have a little bit more privacy I suppose.

Abigail hung a portrait of her mother, Lilith, above a shabby old dresser. She had passed away a few years ago and Abigail missed her terribly. She found much comfort in viewing her mother's portrait when she felt sad and lonely.

"This is wonderful... I hope Geoff isn't eating all of the cookies..."

Christmas Challenge: Application

*I have decided to enter my first challenge at ReflexSims Forum. So these are photos/back story from the contest and additional photos etc since the entry limit for each round is 5 pics ^_^

Geoff and Abigail Hanz have just moved into a charming 3 bedroom Colonial in Bridgeford. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and best of all away from their tiny cramped apartment.
The snow falls in soft drifs throughout the evening. The stone pathway to the house is lit by twinkling Christmas lights hidden in the shrubs.
"I love our new home so much! Thank you!" Abigail exclaims rushing into Geoff's arms as he arrives back from work. Geoff had finally been awarded his much deserved promotion at Cunningham & Davies Law Firm, so this Christmas wouldn't be a struggle to make ends meet.
"You really like them?" Abigail asks. Geoff takes her hands. "Of course! The wreaths you made look fantastic!"
The evening snow quickly melts away when the sun peaks over the trees. Abigail loves their new yard so much. Her favorite spot is the little wooden bench by the tiny pond. It sits right under two maple trees, such a perfect spot for curling up with a book.
She sets out at once to set up the patio furniture, they were her Grandmother's and she treasures them dearly. The day was brisk and clear, such lovely weather to enjoy a pot of hot tea. She looked forward to a peaceful afternoon with Geoff after they had done more unpacking.

"So I've invited my Mum to visit us for Christmas! That will be fun, won't it?"
"Oh, yes... so much fun..." Abigail replies with a look of dread. So much for peace...
But atleast the snow has come back, the white flurries makes Abigail smile. Maybe Agatha's visit wouldn't be so bad after all. She had never met her as she was not able to attend her and Geoff's wedding this past summer and lived back in England. She only knew a few things about her... she lives alone in the countryside, Geoff is her only son (although she does have 2 stepchildren), and Christmas is her favorite holiday.
Well, Christmas is Abigail's favorite holiday too, so she felt atleast they had that in common. Abigail did hear that Agatha was a bit hard to please (and stubborn as a mule and very opinionated...) but she was sure she could break her cold exterior with enough Christmas cheer.

VW Beetle Car is from MTS2. The original mesh file is from Exnem Sims along with about a dozen (non-junky) recolours.

This is one of my favorite kitchens I have created so far. I really love how bright and open it is but still looks warm and welcoming. As you can probably tell, the home is in a new neighborhood so there isn't much of a view outside these gorgeous loft style windows.

BTW: "Foxgrove" is the new London townhome I've created in the game. Exterior images soon.

Modern Move-In!

Two posts in one day, wow! HAHA.

I remodeled a house I downloaded off ModtheSims2 to give it a more open and modern look.

I don't really have any windows or door options yet in my game, let alone any wallpapers and floors that are very modern, so these are the BEFORE photos (not the BEFORE/BEFORE photos which were quite terrible)

I need to get some modern light fixtures, kitchen items, bathroom, living room, bedroom, and modern decor. Modern everything basically. Most of my downloads are vintage/shabby/flea market inspired... hope it turns out well!

Sorry for the lack of updates! Life gets busy ^_^

I had to re-install the Sims2 as well as redownload a lot of my old custom content and that kind of discouraged me from playing for awhile, I just needed a break.

Anyhow, I'm back with a brand new Shabby Chic living room.

I love French Country, Shabby Chic, and Flea Market inspired homes, so you will find many of the rooms here at Blueprint Sims that reflect these aesthetics. However, I am working on a new "Modern" house project which is always challenging for me since I really love my clutter. ^_^

Organizing CC!

I have been on a downloading binge lately! I am taking it slowly though and organizing my downloads ONE BY ONE.

Yes, it is very slow and tedious, but this way it will be easier to pinpoint problem files, missing meshes, and finding items later on.

This is how I have organized my Downloads folder.

Genetics [hair/make-up/skintones]
Buy Mode [comfort/surfaces/decorative/lighting/misc/appliances/plumbing]
Build Mode [walls/floors/fences/garden/doors/windows/misc]
Clothing
Sims

Eventually I'll sort through the Decorative files and break those down too. It is always to biggest folder.

The good thing about taking it slowly about the downloads is I am downloading only what I really want. Usually I download an entire set and just have the unwanted pieces sit in the folders, this time I am deleting items I don't want before loading them into the game.

Tedious, but will pay off.

More screens soon! I think I have downloaded 200 items today. Which in Sim world is barely anything considering the amount of beautiful custom content for download out there!

The FIRST Apartment

I've reinstalled my Sims game and now have the Apartment Life EP (I love it so far!) I also cleared all my previous CC, so these rooms are a bit bare. I'm sure it won't take long to acrue all the CC I had stored up though. *hehe*

Here is test apartment home in one of the premade Maxis apartment. It looks like a prison from the outside, but I was really excited to get in there and try out everything.

I love the vents and exposed building materials. I also love that things can be moved up and down the wall (only applies to objects that are "wall hangings")

Anyhow, I will eventually build London style townhomes which I have always wanted to do ever since Nightlife came out. YAY!

But for now, some screens from the first apartment I've occupied.

Winter Harvest

Ava McEvoy had moved into her small downtown home not too long ago, at first she was apprehensive about living in the city, she had always grown up amongst plenty of vegetation and plant life.

One of the selling points of the house was the small glass greenhouse in the back. The entire lawn lacked any sort of garden. But in a matter of months, Ava would turn things around and the bare lawn would become a lush landscape of flowers, shrubs, and trees.

But for now, a few simple tomatoes to sell at the Farmer's Market will do. She hums to herself as she selects a few red juicy tomatoes and places them in her basket. All the sweat and toil during the Fall months were worth it. These tomatoes were perfection!

Another room in the Avonlea house for my Self Sim. The entire house is/will be decorated in the exact aesthetic as my own home. A mix of vintage, shabby chic, and modern. And yes, quite girly.

The room at night is bathed in a soft pink glow from the Eiffel tower lamps. This room is just so sweet, isn't it?

There isn't room inside the Avonlea house for a full on dining room, so I created the dining room on the large front porch. Flower boxes were added to give a little more privacy.

When the weather is cooler, a temporary fireplace will be placed outside so guests won't freeze while dining!

Nowhere near finished and as you can see it is the first house on the street. House is currently unoccupied. It is a 2 x 3 Lot.

Anyhow, I have finished the living room.

The Hempstead house is much more traditional than most of the homes I make, so I had to have the interior fit the exterior.

Most of the items in the living room are from The Sims Resource (subscription files). There are a few Maxis items though. The windows, fireplace, and dresser in the background are Maxis.

Arden Living Room

I have also created the Arden's living room which kind of has the same color theme as the bedroom... pale blues, greens, golds, blacks... I might carry this color palette througout the entire house.

I know the tiled floor and the zebra rug don't really go together, but in a fantastic sort of way, they do, don't they? I know it's a bit busy... and BTW, don't you just LOVE Murano's shiny floors? I love them so much! I tend to get a bit shiny floor happy though...

House Tours: Earth Inspired Rooms

For your eco friendly Sims who love Nature and want to bring the great outdoors inside their homes. We have created two rooms that are chic and nature inspired without looking too "Mother Earth" hippie.

We used nuetral colors for the furniture and incorporated natural elements like the rattan wicker chairs in the dining room.

The walls are painted Spring Grass green and Midday Sky blue.

BTW: Her name I believe is French, after my yoga instructor. Although my yoga instructor looks nothing like this Sim, I really love her name (pronounced Se-veene)

Three Wishes

I was very excited to have found a Genie Lamp in front of my doorstep! I have never seen a Genie in the game before and not exactly sure how this little act was triggered. I do know a gypsy woman came by and shook this big black bag and out popped the genie lamp.

I have THREE wishes. My first wish: "Give me a long life" I think it added 3 days to my life expectancy. YAY!

Sim: Self Sim

This Sim is modeled after me, it's a very close representation, my daughter thinks sometimes looking at the Sim is like looking at a cartoon of me, so I am guessing I did a good job.

My Sims stopped working for awhile. I had tried to install Bon Voyage and it was very glitchy on the comp, so I uninstalled and then everything kind of was OK. Then I got Free Time and that got glitchy as well (it was because of my computer, not the game itself).

A couple of weeks ago I got a new computer and my Sims 2 has been running perfectly fine. The only thing is I no longer have all the custom content, so I am slowly but surely building up my huge library of CC again and this time organizing them in subcategories as I go along.

Anyhow, I will be updating weekly from now on, so be sure to visit again.

Derelict House Project

Meet Celine Dubois. She's normally not this depressed. Infact, she was quite happy just a few weeks ago having recently graduated from University and purchasing her very first home.

When she heard it was a fixer upper (and quite a bargain being below 20,000), Celine jumped on the "Renovation Wagon" having been inspired by decorating shows on TV and so excited to start "nesting."

A few weeks into her renovation project, Celine gets more and more agitated and depressed. The funds in her bank account are very rapidly disappearing, her new job as a Lab Assistant doesn't pay nearly enough to cover her school loans and new home expenses, and not to mention she hasn't had a lick of an exciting social life she thought would magically happen as soon as she walked out the doors of University, diploma in hand.

No such luck yet...

Gross. This kitchen is a disgusting mess! Celine gets right to work and starts washing dishes, polishing appliances, and sweeping the floor.

Exhausted, Celine takes a short break to enjoy a salad. Not a very fulfilling salad though... But she's found a tiny bit of comfort that the kitchen is somewhat clean. The floors are grotty and old and no matter how hard she's scrubbed, she cannot get the gunk out between the tiles. She knows eventually new tiles will have to be put in... but her bank account holds a pitiful $1200 simoleons and she has much more important things to do...

Outside, the yard is overgrown with weeds, the grass is spotty, half the plants are dead, and those that are alive are very scary looking. Celine can't help shrieking in frustration as she realizes she is just going to have to foot the bill for a gardener to help her improve the gardens.

Well, well... looks like a bit of luck for Celine. The gardener is quite cute... she wonders if she should strike up a conversation. She doesn't of course, Celine has always been painfully shy when it came to men, well people in general.

After a few more days of work, the gardener has clearly improved the lot. The grass looks a bit greener, new flowers are blossoming, and the shrubs look trim and tidy. The whole job cost Celine a pretty penny and now she will have to wait for a promotion to be able to purchase new appliances for the kitchen. In the back of her mind she wonders what the gardener's name is...

Meet The Brandons

I love the Confessions of a Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella, so it was about time I made Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood) along with Luke and Minnie. I am in the process of making Suze & Tarquin and would like to make Jese & Tom. Might possibly make Danny and Venetia. We'll see.

But for now, meet the Brandons!

I have always imagined Becky to have brown hair and brown eyes. Mostly because I think the name Rebecca suites brunettes and brown eyed girls.

Originally I created Luke with light brown hair and blue/green eyes since I always imagined him to look that way, but after rereading "Confessions of a Shopaholic" he is described as being handsome with dark hair and dark eyes.

This picture is so cute. Minnie Brandon is Luke & Becky's daughter (in 5th book). I didn't want to make an infant, so I made a toddler version of Minnie. She has light brown hair and hazel eyes.

After the fire, Sofia decides to trim the tree... only a couple more weeks until Christmas. She decides candles might not be a good idea for the tree this year.

Binkie is fascinated with the green box... maybe it's a new chew toy or doggie bowl!

"OMG!!!" Luckily the fire brigade is on its way (thank goodness for fire alarms!)

"Out of the way!" The girls continue to scream and panic... shouldn't they get OUT of the house?

"Be more careful next time." Sofia looks a bit offended, why wouldn't she be more careful next time? She was careful THIS time. (Damn the fireplaces, they always catch on fire!) She wonders if the fireman is single...

You must use two different cheat codes in order for this to work. Presst Ctrl Shift C together to bring up the Cheat box. Type in move_objects on then press enter. Bring up cheat box again then afterwards type in boolProp snapObjectsToGrid false

You will be able to place the pictures anywhere you would like! Don't forget to turn off the cheat codes when you're done (although I have not experienced any harm in not turning them off)
